During the Christmas season, many families decide to go on vacations, with some going close to home while others fly far away to different countries. In each location, it may be busy with many tourists coming for certain events. Some may want to go to a cold, snowy location while others may want to go to a warmer location to avoid the cold. In my opinion, the top three places in the United States to travel during Christmas are Lake Tahoe, New York and Hawaii.
Lake Tahoe is a great location option for those who want to enjoy Christmas in the snow. There are places to ski or snowboard as well as to have fun in the snow with family. There are also outdoor shopping centers where one can enjoy meals or ice skate out in the snow and cabins where one can stay, which really gives winter vibes. Lake Tahoe would be a great option for those who are interested in doing winter activities, from skiing to ice skating.
New York is one of the busiest cities, and there are definitely a lot of Christmas events that are occurring. Some notable events are the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting and Dyker Heights Christmas Lights. Rockefeller is a well-known event where a massive Christmas tree is lit up with many lights, which marks the start of the holidays. Dyker Heights Christmas Lights are in Brooklyn, which are famous for their Christmas decorations, attracting many tourists to come and visit. Besides events, there are a variety of shopping centers where one can go Christmas shopping. Famous shopping places include Macy’s or Saks Fifth Avenue.
For those who do not enjoy the cold, there is another alternative location: Hawaii. I have gone to Hawaii during the holidays, and personally I enjoyed the warm weather with the holiday festivities. Hawaii is known for its constant warm weather, which attracts many tourists specifically during the colder months. Similar to New York, there are many events that occur across the islands of Hawaii. For example, there is a Waikiki Christmas Parade, where families can watch floats, marching bands and cultural performances. There are also Lūʻau Celebrations, where Hawaiian culture is blended Christmas through food, dance and music.
From outdoor winter activities, the bustling city life and the warmth climate, Lake Tahoe, New York and Hawaii are great places to visit with family and friends. Lake Tahoe allows those who want to be active and do fun activities such as skiing, snowboarding or just spending time in a cozy cabin. The busy streets of New York never sleep with the Christmas lights and the endless shopping. The calm, tropical weather of Hawaii attracts those who may not want to spend their Christmas in the cold. All locations have fun Christmas festivities, from events to activities there are many options one can choose from. They are all definitely worth visiting during the holiday season.
