NDB’s basement includes the weight room, classrooms and the Tiger TV Studio. However, a previous room popular with many of the students has been redone: The Soda Fountain!
The Soda Fountain was previously used for storage but the room has since been transformed into a new and fun area for students to relax and take a break during lunch. New additions include a ping pong table, a shuffleboard, a TV, tables and even a refrigerator holding snacks for the student body. These refurbishments in the new Soda Fountain are meant to be an overall open and welcoming environment for students to have fun with their friends, get work done or simply just relax. With the new soda fountain being no easy feat, a lot of work and people have dedicated their time to redoing this luxurious space.
Meredith Essalat, the Head of the School, shared that the NDB Dads Club helped rebuild and construct the Soda Fountain. She also stated that funds for this project were raised at the annual Auction Gala earlier this year and employed interior designer Audra Greenspan for the innovations. This summer, everyone chipped in and helped build this incredible space for Tigers.
“My favorite part is probably the ping pong table or the new coffee machine,” says Freshman Emma Hogan. “I think it’s really nice it’s a good part of campus.”
According to Meredith Essalat, there will be rotation times when each grade can enjoy the Soda Fountain once a week. NDB will be rolling this new schedule out soon so hopefully, every student will get a chance to see the new room.
The NDB’s new soda fountain is a great addition to the school and many students will surely be spending a lot of time there to get work done or relax.
