Halloween is celebrated every year on October 31. Many students at NDB are excited by the holiday, many through either trick-or-treating or celebrating with friends.
“[I am going to] trick-or-treat, I think, is more interesting [than staying at home], because it’s actually social. And who doesn’t like free candies?” said sophomore Amy Sun. “So the place I used to live in, we don’t celebrate Halloween that much. And when I came here, the vibe is [that] more people, like, get … candies and [like] wearing [a] costume.”
Sun states that she does not have a specific plan on what she is going to dress up as for Halloween but she wants to do something popular like a character from a Disney movie. Her favorite part of Halloween is trick-or-treating, because it is an activity for her to hang out with friends and participate in her neighborhood.
“My favorite part of Halloween is going trick-or-treating with my friends and eating a lot of candy,” said freshman Sarah Lee.
Lee is going to be Yoshi for Halloween since she and her friends are dressing up as Mario characters. She enjoys celebrating Halloween because she thinks it is fun to dress up with friends and prefers trick-or-treating than staying home and passing out candy because it is more exciting to go around different houses and see the different Halloween decorations.
Whether it is staying home with friends to pass out candy or going trick-or-treating, there are many different ways students can get involved in the Halloween spirit.
