It seems like there are always new trends in high school, with the latest being the iconic Crumbl Cookie. Every week, students are raving about the new lineup of cookies they are excited to try, such as milk chocolate chip, red velvet and even non-cookies like the recent confetti cake.
However, many trends are viewed as overrated, raising the question, is Crumbl really worth all of the hype, or do students just obsess over the bakery to be a part of the trend?
“I love Crumbl because they have a lot of variety of flavors, which I find very exciting,” said senior Rhea Vishnoi. “Yes [I do think it is worth the hype], but it does depend on the flavors of the week … sometimes they are really sweet, although I would still eat them.”
Students love Crumbl due to the unique quality of having new cookie options every week, allowing large variety and the bakery’s ability to provide a flavor for everyone. While she does like the cookies, Vishnoi’s criticism of their sweetness is one of the reasons some dislike the bakery.
Sophomore Cecile Salamhe believes that Crumbl is overrated, alluding that some students only love the cookies due to the relevance of Crumbl.
“I think it’s really sweet, and the cookies are really raw,” stated Salameh. “I think Crumbl should consider baking their cookies a bit more and making them a little less sweet.”
While Crumbl is very unique in that they have new cookie options each week, the sweetness can make them less than delicious at times. Also, the cookies can be quite expensive, especially if they are bought weekly. It seems that students’ positive views of the bakery are partly due to their actual enjoyment of the cookies they buy, but also because of false delight due to the desire to agree with the majority opinion that Crumbl is so great.
