As students delve further into the Fall season, NDB Tigers are falling into their regular routines. For a substantial number of students, these routines include rewatching the iconic series, “Gilmore Girls.” This show has been popular since its release in the year of 2000, and remains a staple of the Fall season thanks in large part to its cozy, autumnal aesthetics and charming small-town setting.
Freshman Tessa Henry is a proud “Gilmore Girls” fan and she is just one student that the show provides a comforting backdrop during the cooler months to, allowing her to unwind and reset during a busy school year.
“It’s like the ultimate fall vibe—you can totally escape into Stars Hollow and forget about school for a while,” remarks Henry.
For seniors especially, “Gilmore Girls” serves as a form of stress relief during what can be an intense time in their academic lives. Senior Emma Slocum is an example of a student who never gets sick of this classic fall rewatch.
“The town of Stars Hollow gives off a lot of Fall vibes, and I think that really sets the season”, says Slocum. She noted how the show’s sense of community and relationships offers a sense of wholesomeness that draws them in each year. “I think that the mother-daughter banter is fun to listen to and takes off the stress I am feeling, ” explains Slocum. “I love Lorelei and Rory’s relationship…them interacting is always so funny.”
Whether laughing along with Lorelai’s witty remarks or enjoying Rory’s adventures, students like Slocum find something reassuring and comforting about the familiarity of the show for the Fall season that has a magical way of alleviating stress!
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisper, “Gilmore Girls” remains a comforting retreat for many NDB students. Whether it is the picturesque fall landscapes, the heartwarming relationships, or the humorous dialogue, The autumn season serves as the perfect setting to begin diving back into the series.
