October marks the start of pumpkin patch season and the cozy fall weather. In the Bay Area, these pumpkin patches are popular among all people and can be a fun fall activity. Many of these take place in Half Moon Bay or other local farms where they grow their pumpkins on-site. Other pumpkin patches are more commercial, like the ones seen while driving down a busy road. Either way, going to a pumpkin patch is a great way to get into the spirit of fall and Halloween.
Typically, pumpkin patches have many activities that people can participate in. Popular ones are corn mazes, tractor rides, and sampling some fall food such as pumpkin or apple pie. However, the main attraction is getting to pick out a pumpkin from the field. People spend a long time picking out the perfect one to take home and it makes the experience all the more special
NDB Junior Evelyn Fox recounts her experiences visiting Farmer John’s pumpkin patch. This pumpkin patch is located in Half Moon Bay and is always a popular place to visit during the fall season.
Fox says, “A lot of my memories surrounding fall have been going to the pumpkin patch with my family and my grandparents.”
“I would recommend it because it’s a lot of fun and it’s under new ownership now.” Farmer John’s offers many seasonal activities such as photo opportunities and choosing a pumpkin to take home.
This patch opened on September 6th and is open until October 31 with no reservations or tickets required for entry.
