Pumpkin spice has been a fan-favorite of many during the fall season. Typically made with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves, this flavor has been taking over the interests of many when the leaves turn orange. Some might say it is overrated, but others believe it deserves its praise.
“I think pumpkin spice isn’t overrated, especially during the fall season. Pumpkin spice is a fun flavor to add to any of your fall drinks or snacks,” comments Freshman Braelynn Marquez.
Pumpkin spice has been circulating and making its rounds ever since the Pumpkin Spice Latte was released by Starbucks in 2003. It has been commonly labeled as a “trend” to take part in ordering a Pumpkin Spice flavored item during Autumn, so many people seem to think it is worth the hype, as it is a common tendency.
Although pumpkin spice sparks up many conversations and appears in many café orders, it is not the taste for everyone.
“It tastes nasty,” says Freshman Elain Xie, “Lattes and pumpkin spice when combined taste weird.”
Pumpkin spice can be included with many other flavors and tastes. It is most likely incorporated into coffees like lattes and frappuccinos, which some people do not enjoy. Pumpkin spice is not only included in drinks but in foods as well. Many food brands join in on the popularity of this flavor. One example is Nabisco’s pumpkin spice-flavored Oreos. A store that takes part in many seasonal traditions is Trader Joe’s, with its pumpkin spice pretzels, cookies, and coffees.
No one can truly decide if pumpkin spice should be enjoyed or thrown away. This taste is not for everyone, but it should be recognized for its effect on people worldwide. It is especially prominent throughout this season because of its warm and cozy feeling, making it a staple in many fall traditions, and whether it is liked or not, it will always be around because of its unique blend and popularity among many.
