Dig Pink, one of NDB’s biggest athletic events of the year, was held on Thursday, October 3 in the Moore Pavilion. The annual event, involving frosh, junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams, brings the entire community together to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
This year, the teams played against Notre Dame San Jose HS. From the opening serve, the atmosphere in the Moore Pavillion was filled with excitement as fans dressed in pink clothing and accessories, eager to be a part of such a beloved tradition and support an important cause. The players demonstrated impressive skills on the court, showcasing powerful passes, sets and hits throughout the night.
However, the event represents more than just an athletic competition; it is a group initiative that has a profound impact on the community, spreading awareness of Breast Cancer and inspiring everyone to do what they can to help this cause.
“An event like Dig Pink helps influence the community, and it makes us remember what we’re playing for and what the game represents,” said Varsity Volleyball Player Camilla Qaqundah.
Preparations began weeks before the game. The fundraiser is mainly organized by the NDB Dig Pink Club, which sells merchandise and holds a bake sale in the days leading up to the event. All of the proceeds go to breast cancer awareness. In addition, posters advertise the event, and the volleyball players create a hype video to get attendees excited.
“For Dig Pink, I did specific outreach things such as reaching out to the coaches for volleyball footage, creating edits and sending out emails to promote student participation and school spirit,” said ASB Athletics Director Hailey Kockos.
Because of the unwavering dedication and hard work brought by the NDB community, Dig Pink brought awareness to breast cancer and filled the Moore with excitement. The Freshman and JV teams secured wins, and though the Varsity team was defeated, the objective of the game was certainly reached, leaving the community filled with gratitude and support.
