On October 31, the spirit squad seniors will perform at their final Dingbat Rally at NDB. Every year, the upperclassmen of the spirit squad put in a lot of effort to plan and perform for their peers at the annual Halloween rally. The performance is always very entertaining and receives lots of praise from the students; however, the seniors will be receiving their final round of applause at this coming rally.
Many seniors have been on the spirit squad since their freshman year and will have committed eight seasons on the team by the end of the school year, so it will become emotional for every event they perform at, being their final one.
Senior Gabby Lonardo is an example of a student who has been on Varsity cheer throughout her entire time at NDB. Many seniors, such as Lonardo, are in charge of choreographing the routine and will miss this experience.
“I am very excited [for the rally],” says Lonardo.
“This is…one of the major things I look forward to because I love choreographing routines for cheer, and I think It’s going to be really good this year.”
Though there is a lot of excitement for the event, there will be hints of sorrow due to the performance beginning the spirit squad seniors’ “lasts” of cheer. Adriana Cirina is another senior on the team and expresses her dismay at this dingbat rally being her final one.
“I’m definitely upset about it [the performance],” states Cirina. “It’s definitely like one of the lasts that I’m checking off my list. Just means that I’m nearing the end, which makes me sad.”
Lonardo expresses something similar: “I’m really sad because [choreographing] has been something that I’ve done literally every year for four years…It’s really fun for the school team to get together, so I think I’ll definitely miss it.”
