Stanley has been an extremely popular brand in recent years, releasing multiple collaborations with different brands and prompting record-breaking sales. Its popularity stemmed from its functionality and shape, which allowed it to comfortably fit inside a car’s cup holder, and its ability to keep beverages hot and cold for long periods.
The Stanley Cup has also been praised for its protective stainless steel design, vacuum wall insulation, and three-position lid. It also comes in a variety of different sizes, ranging from small 14-oz cups to larger 64-oz quenchers.
Freshman Maia Manuele noted the Stanley tumbler’s sleek and stylish design, saying, “I like it because it’s really big. [Stanley] also has lots of cute colors and sizes.”
Stanley cups are available in 32 colors and multiple different styles. This past year, Stanley has collaborated with brands and labels such as LoveShackFancy, and Barbie, and released a limited edition collaboration with Olivia Rodrigo.
However, there has recently been a fast-growing trend of Owala water bottles. Buyers have raved about its portable design, color choices, and two sipping methods.
The Owala bottle also comes in multiple sizes, with the standard 25-40 oz Freesip bottle and a new collection of 20- and 40 oz tumblers. The Freesip comes in 17 different color combinations, making it a popular choice for many students at NDB.
Sophomore Marta Luis says, “I really like my Owala water bottle because it’s functional. And, it comes in so many pretty colors.”
In addition, the most popular design, the Freesip, is only $27.99, compared to the Stanley Tumbler’s heftier price tag, which can range anywhere from $35 to $60 depending on the design.
All in all, the differences between Stanley cups and Owala water bottles are a matter of preference, which varies for each student. While some NDB students prefer the Stanley Cup’s functionality with its easy-to-carry handle and insulated interior, others prefer Owala’s smaller design and lighter cost.
In addition, both offer a multitude of designs and colors. Both brands carry a variety of high-quality tumblers and water bottles that are both portable and stylish, making either a perfect pick for anyone.
