Water is a key part of life. Whether at school, exercising or just hanging out at home, water is necessary for survival. Different water bottles are used for different activities, age groups and purposes, but at NDB, some are more prominent than others.
The brand Stanley has been around since 1913, but just recently have the Stanley tumblers really made their appearance. With a variety of colors, sizes and styles, the Stanley tumblers have been seen all over the classrooms and hallways of NDB.
A Sophomore at NDB, Maisie Street, who has owned a Stanley for 4 months, said “ I like the colors and the straw and how much water it gives you because I can stay really hydrated.”
These cups have sold out in Targets within seconds and have become a huge trend all over the world. However, Stanley isn’t the only brand making its mark in the water bottle community.
Owala has seen a recent upward trend in sales, with many social media influencers claiming them to be the next Stanley. Owala has a unique design that has no spillage because the straw is on the inside of the cap, not on the outside, and also has a siping option. They have a tumbler-like design that is also very popular. Many NDB students have really taken a liking to Owala and they’ve been appearing in classrooms more often.
Mia Moussa, who owns an Owala, says “I like the straw and how you can use it multiple ways. It fits into cup holders and backpack holders. I also like the colors.”
It is looking like Owala will be the next big trend. But there is another tumbler brand that is making its move.
Similar to Owala, BrüMate has a unique non-spillage design with a lock feature on the straw and lots of trendy colors. They also have lots of ways to personalize their tumblers such as adding a name or icons on it. The brand has been around since 2016, but has recently seen a surge of people buying due to the trend.
Some students around NDB have chosen BrüMates over other brands, such as student Jolie Girgis who said “I love it because it’s leakproof and it’s basically a tumblr with a straw and a handle that doesn’t leak.”
Even with all these new water bottles emerging, there are still the classic brands that everybody knows and loves.
Yeti and Hydroflask are some of the most reliable brands that have been around for years. Hydroflask saw the end of their peak when the internet trend of VSCO girls died down, but they are definitely still relevant today. They are constantly making new colors and designs with the same great quality they have had for a long time.
NDB student Nikki Guinasso remarks on her Hydroflask, “I like that it doesn’t leak and they come in different colors and different lids.”
Yeti has a similar history, especially with a popular design called the “Rambler” which is an insulated cup, perfect for coffee or cold drinks. Yeti never really had its own trend, but it has been a consistently popular brand and always has reliable designs that won’t fail. Another NDB student Alexandra Charnas comments about her Yeti, “I really like the straw option. I also like that my drink actually stays cold and I know there isn’t lead in my bottle.”
Regardless of the brand or design, there’s no doubt that water bottles are one of the trendiest items and are constantly changing. With different styles and unique taste NDB students continue to bring their favorite water bottles to class each day.
