On the week of February 20, NDB students will be traveling all over for the many opportunities that intersession offers or spending the week on the NDB campus. From college visits and family trips to engaging lessons at school, Intercessions allows students to participate in a variety of activities.
With seniors receiving college decisions, many use intercession as a time to explore their options of potential schools and visit the colleges they have gotten into to help narrow down all of their choices.
“Last year, I visited some family in Santa Barbara and this year I am going to go visit some colleges I’m interested in,” says senior Katie Johnson.
As for other students, family trips are very popular and a great way to spend the break with loved ones. For those who want to spend time with family but can not travel, volunteering or interning for parents is another great option for this week off. For senior Lauren Pope, spending time with family is a bonus when it comes to her intersession activity. Pope interns at her dad’s dentist office after school frequently but during intercession, she is now able to fully commit her time to assisting her dad.
“I am incredibly lucky because not only do I get to do an internship over intersession but I also get to work alongside my dad,” says Pope.
NDB’s student activities are also an option for students that want to stay home for the break or have sports that do not allow them to travel. Juniors Ava Baldi and Charlotte Parks are going to be spending their week off from school learning about guitars from Mr. Estrada.
“We are very excited to learn more about guitars and music in general.” says Parks.
Intercession is a perfect opportunity for connecting with your family or trying something new that you might not be able to with a busy schedule. For most high school students, this week is a relaxing break from school and a chance to refresh during the second semester.
