Since I started my freshman year three months ago, I have been wondering what it is like to have a sister that goes to NDB with me. To get some sense of what it is like, I interviewed a couple sister pairs at NDB.
First, sisters Georgia ‘25 and Charlotte Sewell ‘26 share their thoughts.
Charlotte says, “My sister drives me to school everyday and we say hi to each other in the halls. My favorite part about having my sister at school with me is that I can always get information from her and when I’m feeling lost she can always help me. I don’t think I have a least favorite thing about seeing Georgia at school. I love my sister.”
Georgia shares next, “I like having my sister at school with me because I’ve gone to school with her my whole life, so it would be really different if we didn’t go to school with each other. My favorite part about going to school with my sister is that we can help each other with classes if we take the same one or if I have taken it in the past, and I have an excuse to go to Starbucks with someone everyday. My least favorite part about going to school with my sister is that teachers always mistake me for her. I go to both my friends and my sister for help depending on the situation, but if I want a discreet upfront answer, I go to my sister and if I want a smart approach on something I’ll ask my friends.”
The next sisters are Sam ‘25 and Liv Gould ‘27.
Liv states, “I like going to school with my sister. I usually just say hi to her at lunch and I don’t see her in the halls that much. My favorite part about school with my sister is just having someone to go to at all times. My least favorite part about school with my sister is also having to see her at all times though. We separate from each other when we play our different sports and go to different events which is good.”
Sam explains, “I like going to school with my sister because it makes being a big sister so much more fun. I drive my sister to school and we hang out lots. My favorite thing is when we get to cheer for each other at spirit rallies. My least favorite thing about school with Liv is when she makes me late for school. I always go to my sister first when I need help.”
The last siblings who shared with me were Sabrina ‘24 and Olivia Phillip ‘27.
Olivia said, “I really enjoy seeing my sister in the halls and if I have a bad day, she is someone I can always count on to talk to and make me feel better. She drives me to school every single day except for when I have cheer after school, but now that soccer season is starting for her, she can drive me home more because both practices end around the same time. I usually always say hi to Sabrina in the halls. Sometimes I have something to tell her, sometimes we just wave, and sometimes it’s a smile. I don’t have a least favorite thing about school with my sister. I like that I know all of her friends too.”
Sabrina states, “I have been looking forward to having my little sister in high school forever. I think we are so close that seeing her in the halls and driving her to school everyday makes my day and I’m going to be really sad when I go to college and we aren’t in the same school anymore. I think the drives in the morning and even after school when we both don’t have sports are really special because we get to talk about our day without the pressure of homework, and also seeing her at lunch and seeing her in the hallways is always super fun because it’s something unique that not everyone has the ability to do like see their family at school. I don’t have a least favorite thing about going to school with my sister. I separate my home life from my school life with my sister by not talking about things that are going on when I see her or with our family. I often just ask her about her day super quick or ask her if she has a ride home from cheer.”
These three sister pairs really helped me get a feel for what having a sister at NDB would be like. It seems as though everything is very positive, and they enjoy having each other at school because there is always somebody to talk to.
