On Saturday, October 7, students brought their dads to campus for NDB’s annual Father-Daughter Carnival. Students enjoyed the bonding experience as well as the various activities offered. In the past, it was known as the Father-Daughter Dance, but the carnival became a new tradition in 2023.
“I’ve enjoyed this versus the father-daughter dances that they used to do because there’s more opportunity to be with your daughter or with other dads and have good social interactions,” said Nate Stump, father of junior Annie Stump.
Throughout the night, there were many chances for competitions in various games, whether they were between a father and daughter, student and student, or father and father. Some of the popular games included archery, coin toss, football, soccer and zap-a-mole.
“I [like] the carnival games, like the coin toss,” Annie Stump said. “It’s really fun to play with my dad.”
NDB also offered many different foods, all of which were carnival-themed. For dinner, there were tater tots and turkey legs and, for dessert, there were candy apples, cotton candy and snow cones. Later, there were opportunities for attendees to make a bag of candy corn and gummy bears to take home at the end of the event.
Aside from the food and games, another fun aspect was that NDB hired professional carnival workers, including a baton twirler and a stilt walker, which added a more authentic carnival vibe.
One of the final attractions was the photo booth, which had a long line in the Moore Pavilion’s lobby for the entire night.
Students waited to take pictures with each other and with their fathers, which gave attendees a fun way to remember the night.
NDB’s Father-Daughter Carnival was a memorable way for students and their dads to spend quality time together outside of the house.
