You may have heard the saying “Dogs are a man’s best friend,” but what makes them a best friend? Would some people choose them over humans?
“One hundred percent because sometimes humans can be annoying, and my dog just sits there and she doesn’t annoy me at all,” said junior Jane Hipps.
So, how can dogs help you on a regular basis? Dogs just simply brighten your day. Let’s say you come home from a bad day at school, you failed your math test, your parents are furious at you and you are dreading going home. Remembering that a friend is ready to greet you with their wagging tail the second you walk through the front door can turn the whole day around. At the end of any day, good or bad, you still have your dog sitting at your feet, waiting for you to pet them and to share their love.
Dogs bring out the best in people. They console the inner-child of adults, manage to sway their owner with their adoring gaze and are willing to follow their owner just about anywhere they go. Even just a few minutes of having a dog in company promotes the flow of a hormone that decreases stress. These furry friends impact many students’ lives at NDB. With the stress of homework and sports, it is nice to know you are ensured a warm welcome when you come home.
Dogs make a huge impact on people’s lives. Their unwavering loyalty and infinite affection relieves stress for any person at any age.
