On February 23, Netflix released season three of the drama show “Outer Banks.”

On February 23, one of the most anticipated shows on Netflix returned back for season three. “Outer Banks”, a drama and adventure show, follows the story of a group of teenagers on the quest for riches against other powerful and money-hungry characters. The show, released about a month ago, still stands as number three in “Top TV shows in the U.S. Today” for good reasons.

Season one of the show was first released in April of 2020, right at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. It took the world by storm and had fans all over the world talking. Not only did fans love the on-screen story and characters, but the real-life friendships between the cast. Specifically, fans picked up on the chemistry between Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah Cameron, and Chase Stokes, who plays John B. Playing a couple from two different sides of the Outer Banks in the show, it was easy for fans to picture them together. The two eventually became a real-life couple in June of 2020, a few months after the show came out. They dated for the entirety of season two filming and its release but unfortunately decided to end things at the end of 2021. This meant that they would be filming season three while broken up. This left fans with lots of questions as to what season three would be like based on the awkward situation between the two co-stars as the on-show relationship continues.

Season two also left many unanswered questions, mainly regarding relationships and the hunt for gold. First, many were hoping to see the developing relationship between JJ and Kiara, along with Pope and Cleo, continue. With hints to the possible future of these two couples in the last episode, it is safe to say season three does not disappoint. Furthermore, many were also excited to watch the reunion of John B and his dad, who was presumed dead for the first two seasons. The finale of season two included an ending scene that showed his dad alive and looking for ways to find and help John B. In the trailer for the show, this homecoming is yet again teased and is one of the most memorable moments of the new season itself. Lastly, many were curious to see if any sparks flew between Sarah and her ex-boyfriend, Topper. Their possible rekindling was not only hinted at in the teaser and trailer but the two are known to go back to each other when times are otherwise tough.

These unanswered questions, along with real-life drama, are what makes “Outer Banks” so tempting for teenagers to watch. Its summer-time feeling, along with an amazing soundtrack, transports longing teenagers to a tropical paradise with freedom, no technology, and room for adventure. Season three definitely did not disappoint, and while the storyline was much different than in previous scenes, it set up season four perfectly with new obstacles for the characters to face. With season four already confirmed and set to start filming soon, “Outer Banks” is definitely a must-watch and is worth binge-watching over and over again.
