Celebration of Spirit welcomes middle school cheer teams
On the evening of March 17, NDB hosted its annual Celebration of Spirit middle school cheer competition. The night began at 6 p.m. in the Moore Pavilion and was hosted by Social Science teacher and NDB Event Tech moderator Jonathan Tomczak.
Middle school cheer teams from around the Bay Area were invited to participate in the yearly competition and were judged by NDB alumni and cheer coaches from surrounding schools and teams.
Each school’s cheer team performed a cheer and a dance routine that was scored by the judges and celebrated by the fans and viewers.
NDB’s JV and Varsity Cheer and Pom teams performed for the audience, which was inspirational and encouraging to the young middle school cheerleaders.
“Our role at the event was to help organize all of the middle school cheer teams and overall keep a lighthearted competition and perform for everyone,” said Varsity Cheer member Cassidy Morris. “The event was very fun and it was [exciting] to see my previous middle school there. It was great for us to perform for the middle schoolers and help them potentially be interested in Notre Dame and try out for the cheer team in the near future.”
The Celebration of Spirit allows prospective students to envision themselves as members of the NDB community. The night spent celebrating school spirit and promoting school pride was energizing for all who attended.
