Leonardo Bardomero, Mathematics teacher

The Catalyst (TC): What is your (initial) reaction to the masking guidelines?

Leonardo Bardomero (LB): Mask wearing should have been made optional since  the very beginning. Thus, when I learned about the most recent guidelines, my first reaction was “finally!”

TC: Why do you choose to wear a mask or not wear a mask?

LB: I chose not to wear a mask because wearing a mask obstructs my breathing. Besides, I have not seen ( or heard of ) any peer review study  suggesting  that masks actually work against any virus.

TC: What do you think of people who think differently from you: Those that are or are not wearing a mask?

LB: I respect their decision.

TC: Do you think dropping masks in school was the best decision for the state to make?

LB: Yes. It was way overdue. Living organisms are supposed to breathe without any hindrance.

TC: Do you feel like this mask mandate is causing people to worry or calm them about COVID-19?

LB: I don’t think so even though I see some students who are usually wearing it but are not very consistent with it they sometimes wear it below the chin and probably when they get in large crowds and put it back on. It’s like they don’t wear it as they did prior to the mandate being lifted.
