The Catalyst / Gulianna Ceschin
Ali Ceschin, sister, NDB ’18
The Catalyst (TC): What was your initial reaction to the masking guidelines?
Ali Ceschin (AC): I was happy that the mask mandate was dropped.
TC: Why do you choose to wear a mask or not wear a mask?
AC: I choose not to wear a mask because I think it helps return to the feeling of normalcy that all of us have been waiting for since COVID first started.
TC: What do you think of people who think differently from you?
AC: I think everyone is allowed to make their own free decisions, and I respect that.
TC: Do you think dropping masks in schools was the best decision for the state to make?
AC: I do. I feel that it was the best decision for the state to make because I think that children should not be put in a situation where they have to get used to COVID restrictions as if it is something that’s going to last forever. I think lifting the restrictions one at a time is what’s best for the youth.
TC: Do you think that there should be an online option for community members that are not comfortable with these masking guidelines?
AC: Yes, I think there should be an alternative option for people who do not wish to take part in the lifted restrictions or are immunocompromised.
