Sophia Badame, senior at St. Francis High School
The Catalyst (TC): What is your school doing for the fall semester: On-campus, hybrid, online, or…?
Sophia Badame (SB): Online.
TC: What do you wish your school would do for the ideal situation in the fall semester?
SB: I mean I really like hybrid but online is a safer type of situation.
TC: NDB is continuing online distance learning until December. What do you think about that?
SB: I think it’s a great and safe idea. I think it’s probably the smartest decision and the safest decision, but it’s probably not ideal for learning, especially kids with learning disabilities are probably having a really hard time.
TC: How are you doing with school right now: academically, socially, or personally?
SB: Academically, it’s harder to keep up because of distractions and teachers think it’s okay to give bigger assignments and more assignments, because we’re at home. But it ends up just adding up, so you get behind really easily. Socially, it’s good. It’s obviously not ideal because there’s no in-person kind of thing but we have breakout rooms and teachers let us socialize. It’s not ideal, but for the situation, socially and academically, it’s the best it can be.
