Madison Kammuller, senior at Burlingame High School
The Catalyst (TC): What is a typical day in your life like with online distance learning?
Madison Kammuller (MK): I wake up around 8-8:30, and then I get ready for my Zoom classes at 9 a.m. My classes go for about an hour and a half with 15 minute breaks throughout the day as if we were actually on campus.
TC: Have you attended other school events on Zoom besides your classes?
MK: The only event that I have attended other than my classes is my Senior counselor meeting, where we had to discuss the college application process. “Other than that there have been no assemblies, no spirit stuff, no nothing.”
TC: Is your school planning to return for the 2020-2021 year?
MK: We have been postponed on going back until at least January, but other than that my classmates and I do not know anything yet.
TC: What are your thoughts about your Senior year so far?
MK: “It definitely sucks. It’s very hard to enjoy the last moments of high school.” I play a fall sport, and we are not allowed to compete or have any practices yet. “I just wanted to enjoy my last year with all the spirit activities, and it’s very hard to do so when we’re not given the opportunity.”
