NDB community reflects on the postponement of Aquacades 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic
The Catalyst interviewed Emma Boyd, sophomore about what would have been Aquacades.
TC: Friday would have been Aquacades, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. What do you have to say about that?
EB: I am very upset that Aquacades will not happen this year. I hope to help the school find an alternative to help the seniors, freshmen, and current ASB officers have the final or first Aquacades experience.
TC: If we come back to school before the end of the year, do you think Aquacades should be rescheduled or should it be canceled?
EB: I think Aquacades should be rescheduled. The seniors, freshman, and current ASB should be able to participate [because] I know that they have been looking forward to this since the beginning of the year.
TC: If it’s rescheduled during the summer, would you be willing to come celebrate it then?
EB: I would absolutely attend. It’s the biggest Notre Dame tradition, and there is no way I would pass up the opportunity.
TC: People usually look at pictures or videos of last year’s Aquacades to learn what it’s about. One year from now, what do you want people to know about Aquacades?
EB: I would want people to know that it is something that can’t really be explained – You have to go to in order to experience it because it’s that big of a tradition. I would like people to remember from last year how much hard work everyone has put in the Aquacades since the beginning of the year and I want to be able to continue that for everybody who was able to put in the hard work this year.
