Angela Giomi, Parent

NDB community reflects on the postponement of Aquacades 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic

The Catalyst interviewed Angela Giomi, parent of Victoria, senior, about what would have been Aquacades.

TC: Friday would have been Aquacades, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  What do you have to say about that?

AG: I think it’s tragic that these seniors had to miss out on such an amazing event. That leaves them with lasting memories. It’s unfortunate that this is what the world has come to.

TC: If we come back to school before the end of the year, do you think Aquacades should be rescheduled or should it be canceled? If it’s rescheduled during the summer, would you be willing to come celebrate it then?

AG: I would definitely like to come see it again during this summer and it should be rescheduled, but it’s up to the senior graduates, ultimately.

TC: People usually look at pictures or videos of last year’s Aquacades to learn what it’s about.  One year from now, what do you want people to know about Aquacades?

AG: Well, I watched the flashback online archives [from] like 50 years ago, and it brought goosebumps to me. I thought it was quite impressive, and I wish that my daughter’s graduating class could have the same moments to be part of the history.
