NDB community reflects on the postponement of Aquacades 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic
The Catalyst interviewed Tracy Ragua, parent of Kate, senior, about what would have been Aquacades.
TC: Friday would have been Aquacades, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. What do you have to say about that?
TR: I had the privilege of watching ASB prepare for Aquacade in my home [during] the weekend before the closure. Their excitement was palpable, and I was so eager to see it all come together on March 20th. When school was closed beyond that date, I was truly heartbroken for everyone.
TC: If we come back to school before the end of the year, do you think Aquacades should be rescheduled or should it be canceled? If it’s rescheduled during the summer, would you be willing to come celebrate it then?
TR: I really hope some version of Aquacades can still be celebrated, even if it’s into the summer. The girls, especially the seniors, deserve it.
TC: People usually look at pictures or videos of last year’s Aquacades to learn what it’s about. One year from now, what do you want people to know about Aquacades?
TR: Even though Aquacades 2020 was in jeopardy, a postponed celebration would prove the importance of this NDB tradition and the strength of our community.
