Senior Sarah Massoudi finishes her her final for AP Calculus class.

In the month of May, there is just one thing hindering student’s overwhelming excitement for the warm weather that summer brings: finals. Final projects or exams, which are worth 20% of a student’s overall grade for the spring semester, are an opportunity to show off what students have learned since winter break.
Finals begin on Friday, May 27. They continue the following week starting Tuesday, May 31. The exams start with Block 3, and then continue with Blocks 7, 2, 6, 1, 5 and 4. There will be a make-up exam block on the last day of finals, Thursday, June 2.
Most students at NDB can agree that finals are not fun. The necessity of them is more debatable though. Some finals, especially projects, come across as busy work, and students have a difficult time pinpointing what exactly they gain from completing them.
Tests are more straightforward. Studying for an exam cements information in the minds of students. Reviewing material from across an entire semester forces them to find connections and make conclusions about the diverse material.
During finals week, the classic breakfast food lunches will be served by Epicurean, beginning at 9:45 A.M. and ending at 11:15 A.M.
