As of October 22, 2021, the movie “Dune” is available to watch in local theaters or on HBO Max.

“Dune” is a movie about Paul Atrides, the main character, who is a great boy with a destiny he has yet to understand. The movie is full of supernatural and mysterious events that lead to very interesting plot points.

Paul has these futuristic dreams where the viewers see an unknown girl and it seems like it is a glimpse into Paul’s future. In addition to these strange dreams, Paul also has a power that is called “the voice”. Paul can use this voice to control and make someone do whatever he commands.

In the movie, we see Paul attempt to use “the voice” on his mother, almost succeeding. It does not work and in the next scene we see Paul meeting with another character, the Reverend Mother. During this meeting and suspenseful scene, she tells Paul to put his hand in a box. When he puts his hand in the box, the Reverend Mother makes him feel pain and continues to talk about fear.

During this deep conversation, Paul says, “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Paul’s character developed and he then became a very different person, after his meeting with the Mother Reverend.

This movie is just one part to the adventure of Paul’s life and there is so much more to come in the next movie. Dune is an adventure created through survival and competition. Paul has to endure many hardships such as death and protecting his pregnant mother. “Dune Part 1” was an amazing movie and hopefully “Dune Part 2” will be just as good.
