Family members Addison Rae and Sheri Nicole both skyrocketed onto social media platforms as influencers in 2019, and since then, their platforms have both continued to grow on a daily basis. Rae, who now has over sixty million followers, sits down with her mother, Nicole, in their podcast, “Mama Knows Best,” to discuss friends, love, and relationships.

In the duo’s most recent podcast, “Friends: Old & New”, they sat down to discuss how moving to Los Angeles, California impacted their friendships with people back home in Louisiana. Rae shared how with her growing platform, she is constantly surrounded by people with varying personalities, but that she finds the most connections with people that are the most similar to her, and that match her energy. She continued to share how finding friends in an entirely new setting has proven to be difficult, and that it can be hard to find real friends when she has such a booming social media presence.

Nicole chimed in, mentioning that for her, it has also been a challenge to get to know people in California because the majority of people that she meets are her daughter’s friends and their parents. Many of them live away from Los Angeles, making it hard to establish relationships.

After listening to the Addison Rae podcast I thought the overall message about friends was meaningful to my life because we all go through rough times with friends during high school, but it is important to find those friends who you can always trust

— Dominique Gradidge

NDB senior Dominique Gradidge listened to this episode of the podcast, and shared how it related back to her personal experience with moving from Australia to California a few years ago.

“After listening to the Addison Rae podcast I thought the overall message about friends was meaningful to my life because we all go through rough times with friends during high school, but it is important to find those friends who you can always trust,” Gradidge shared when asked what she thought about the conversation. “I liked how both the mother Sheri and Addison shared their opinion on their experiences with friends and how to deal with toxic friendships in your life. I also found it relatable because Addison spoke about how she made new friends after moving. After moving from Australia I can say that I have made many new friends that I can trust and who I appreciate everyday.”

Both Rae and Nicole have life experience that resonates with people across the world, and their podcast is their way of sharing more about their lives with the public, specifically things that they don’t necessarily get to highlight on their other social media platforms.
