NDB community reflects on the postponement of Aquacades 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic

The Catalyst interviewed Dan McCoy, parent of Caroline, senior, about what would have been Aquacades.

TC: Friday would have been Aquacades, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  What do you have to say about that?

DM: It’s a shame this virus is stripping all you girls of your fun. I know how exciting Aquacades is for Notre Dame, and I am just empathetic to the fact that you can’t experience this event today.

TC: If we come back to school before the end of the year, do you think Aquacades should be rescheduled or should it be canceled? If it’s rescheduled during the summer, would you be willing to come celebrate it then?

DM: I believe that this event should be described as postponed until further notice to reduce the frenzy of students being upset about the loss of such an event. I know students, especially seniors, would not mind coming to school during summer to celebrate with their school.

TC: People usually look at pictures or videos of last year’s Aquacades to learn what it’s about.  One year from now, what do you want people to know about Aquacades?

DM: This event showcases the true spirit of Notre Dame. While I have not been to the night of Aquacades, I know that the massive effort from the students creates a night of enjoyment and relief from the stress of school.
