On Thursday, October 30, NDB students brought back classic trends and internet memes for Rest in Peace Day, the final Spirit Week theme leading up to Halloween. With everything from VSCO girls to Vine celebrities, the campus was flooded with clever costumes.
Many students saw the theme as a fun way to revisit internet culture and past trends.
“I dressed up as a VSCO girl from 2019, and I wore scrunchies and Pura Vida bracelets, which were really popular at the time. I think I liked this spirit day because it was fun to look back on all the trends from past years,” shared junior Alexis Anderson.
Throughout the week, each spirit day inspired a different type of creativity, but many agreed that Thursday’s theme stood out for its originality.
“I think this spirit day was super fun and nostalgic because I got to see a bunch of my friends dress up as jokes I laughed at in like 2020, which was unique,” said sophomore Elizabeth Brodeur.
Staffulty also got involved in the fun, whether it was by dressing up or cheering on the students. Many also expressed their excitement at seeing students participate in the daily events.
Social Sciences teacher Wendy Connolly stated, “When I’m standing out in the hallway and looking at students that are dressed up, it cracks me up, and it puts me in a good mood, because it’s fun and it’s engaging, and they’re into it, so I love it.”
As Spirit Week came to an end, Rest in Peace Day finished it off strong, leaving Tigers excited for the rest of NDB’s fall traditions.
Tomorrow, October 31, marks the final day of the Halloween festivities, with a lunchtime costume competition and the much-awaited Ding-Bat Rally taking place during Block Eight.
