On the morning of October 27, 2022, several NDB students dropped off plates of baked goods in the student leadership room to participate in the baking competition. Similar to the pumpkin carving contest on the second day of Spirit Week, the baking competition participants entered their creations into three categories: tastiest, most creative, and spookiest. The winner of each category will receive spirit points for their class. Entries included glazed pumpkin truffles, cupcakes, cake pops, and a cake depicting a gummy bear murder scene. Sophomore Adi Joshi hopes to win the tastiest category with a red velvet cupcake entry, titled ‘Persephone’s Habits’ for the pomegranate cream cheese frosting.

“I entered for the tastiest because I’ve been perfecting my cream cheese frosting recipes for years,” explained Joshi. “Also I like to go more for old-fashioned and pretty than spooky.”

All of the baking competition entries, Joshi’s included, were tasted and judged by the ASB officers, who will determine the winners of each category. The competition results will be announced during the Dingbat Day rally on Monday, October 31.
